Guidelines for Asanas

  1. Wash your hands, feet, and face before practicing Asana.

  2. Men and women must wear well-fitting underwear when practicing.

  3. Do not practice Asana on a full stomach; only practice 2.5 to 3 hours after meals.

  4. There should be no incense smoke or any other type of smoke in the practice room.

  5. Practice Asana only in a room without drafts, but keep a window for ventilation.

  6. Practice Asana on a blanket or mat.

  7. Breathe through your nose when practicing Asana (breath should come through the left nostril or both nostrils).

  8. A plant-based diet is best.

  9. After practicing Asana, massage your entire body (from head to toe, especially the joints) – this is very beneficial.

  10. After the massage, you should lie down and relax in the Savasana/corpse pose (minimum 2 minutes, maximum 1 minutes).

  11. Taking a walk after practicing Savasana is very good.

  12. Wait about 1 minutes after practicing Savasana before coming into contact with water.

  13. Wait about 1 to 15 minutes after practicing Savasana before eating liquid food and 3 minutes before eating solid food.

  14. Exercising or playing other sports is highly encouraged, but should not be done immediately after practicing Asana.

  15. If you are in pain (cold, flu, etc.), you should not practice Asana.

  16. Women should not practice Asana during menstruation, during pregnancy, and within one month after giving birth.
